Personal Narrative: A Career As A Lacrosse Player

I started playing lacrosse in 1st grade, on a 3rd and 4th grade team, I don’t remember very much about it but I do remember knowing that I wanted to pursue lacrosse as my main sport and grow up playing it. In 3rd grade, my parents decided that if I wanted to continue playing lacrosse, I should join a travel team. I started making friends and excelled in developing skills. I figured out my position was Attack and I had so much fun my first few years. When I was in 6th grade, lacrosse became my main priority. I wanted a starting spot and to be the best of the best. I tried out for my team that year and walked into tryouts so confident and so ready for the next year of lacrosse. When my mom told me what team I had made, I could not stop crying. Am I good enough for this? Why didn’t they pick me? What more could I do? Making the B team was a major setback at the start of my lacrosse career. I was in love with lacrosse and continued to do everything to be a better player and teammate. I practiced hard and I started on the B team and scored many goals that summer. I accelerated in lacrosse and gained confidence back. The next year, I tried out for the same team in 7th grade. When my mom read my email with the results, my face suddenly broke into the biggest grin. That whole week I was in a frenzy, a smile remained planted on my face.
