I have had a general interest in healthcare workers ever since I was younger. I’m specifically interested in EMTs because they don’t operate in a general healthcare setting, instead they operate in public areas and inside ambulances. It’s tricky to pick an exact date because her and I both have crazy schedules. I have selected to interview this person because I know her personally and she is very passionate about her line of work. I’ve decided to interview someone I know outside of the field for two reasons. One reason being, I’ll feel more comfortable speaking with her and asking questions. The other being, I know I’ll be able to obtain adequate information for the project.
Through the interview, I plan to discuss what goes on inside the station and what happens on calls. I plan to experience both, but I want to have a second person’s perspective as well. If I end up being unable to interview my friend, I plan to interview either another EMT, or an EMT instructor. The information that I will gather through my tour, ride-along, and interview will supply me with adequate information needed to explain my chosen community. I would like to learn more about how EMTs learn to cope with the things they see daily. I’ve always wondered how an EMT could walk away from seeing a tragic accident and pretend like they didn’t see a thing. I am also interested in the debate of whether EMTs are an unappreciated field of healthcare. I’m
