Personal Narrative: A Career In The Police Department

The firefighters and I arrived to the scene, sirens blaring, of the most traumatizing accident I have seen to this day. The memory of the car accident still sticks out the most for me. I was at the station, when we got a call for a car accident. Like most car accidents it is usually not to bad, we just go and make sure everyone is safe but this one was different. We got to the scene, the crash was one of the worst ones I have ever seen, leaving the vehicle demolished with the front crumbled and crushed to pieces. It was a car accident of three people, a mom who was in the drivers seat bent over the steering wheel, a dad in the passenger seat with his head toppled down and one baby in a car seat in the back. The mother and father were not in any critical condition but the baby had gone unconscious. Being in the program, I get to go on a lot of ride alongs in the City of Phoenix. This is where I got the opportunity to go on the ride along of an accident as a cadet in training. This program has given me the ability to see how difficult getting a job or career can be. It also has shown me a lot about life. Not only mine, but the lives of other people. It has shown me how lucky I am for what I have and it has made me really appreciate all the wonderful things in my life. Such as a good family, school opportunities and much more. Seeing the car accident and the unconscious baby gave me a new respect for life. I get to see a lot of crazy things such as, houses on fire, car crashes, people getting injured and a lot of other things at the station I volunteer for, but nothing has affected me more than that accident. Being in the program just has such a great impact on my life and has shown me to work hard for what I want and to be grateful for what I
