After it happened, we were left distraught. We never could’ve imagined ourselves here, the last of the people on the island. Abner, Sara, and I, the things we did with no choice. Could we ever go back to how things were before? We’re left for dead, on this miserable, desolate island. No food, no home, and no family. How are we going to get back? I said. “I don’t believe we ever will.” Abner hopelessly responded. “I feel discouraged as well but, I know if we try we can get out of this together” Sara declared with a shred of courage. We still live with the trauma of the island, but we refuse to let it hinder our lives. Before everything occurred, I was just a normal guy. I went to school, went to practice, and went home to my family. It all started that day. Sara, Abner, and Gloria were at the mall and invited me to hang out. Over my better judgement, I decided to try and make friends. Honestly, it started out great and I really liked the group. It became a common thing for our group to hang out. One day a new kid started at school and we invited him to our group. His name was Wilhem and he was a foreign exchange student from England. I really liked Wilhem, he was a cool guy and had so many fun interests and skills. He was nice, played “football” (as he called it), made good grades, and got along well with everyone. To be completely honest, I was jealous of him. But I admired him way more than I was ever jealous of, and so, we got along. For the first time in my life, I felt like I really belonged.
