1. EXT. BUSHLANDS. DAY
An unknown Indigenous man appears from the left side of the frame. He carries a walking stick, and stops in centre frame. Her squats down and moves some dirt around, like he is checking how good the soil is.

ABORIGINAL MAN

This land is a funny place, unna? Ya never really know what’s gonna happen around here. I mean – you can still feel when somthin’ big’s gonna happen. White fellas call it luck, but its just the magic of the land aye. White fella or black fella though, you could tell that Cloudstreet house used to be an evil place.

The man pauses, looking visibly distraught from the thought of the house.

ABORIGINAL MAN (CONT’D)

My uncle always warned me about that house when I was a ‘lil boorie. That big house with all the white fellas in it. I remember when my uncle saw them arrive, he told me there was a lot of bad vibes, mate. Even when I walked past with my mob, I could feel a chill when I walked past – too much Sorry Business unna.

The man looks at the ground and scratches his arm nervously.

Dunno what he was thinking; ya can’t get rid of a house just like that. Once you lived in a place long enough, that place becomes a part of ya. I dunno what it is about it but ya can feel it deep down; them building bricks to a home are like the building bricks to ya soul, man.
