General Motors sold 86,000 pickups in July, according to “Business Insider”. With that number, having a widely known truck is a sweet victory in my life. Anywhere we go she is recognized and taken pictures with. To most, she is known by Black Betty; she’s only one of my favorite trucks. Everything about her seems pretty special to me: from her unique appearance, to her roaring engine, and lastly her clean interior.
As a 2008 Chevrolet 1500, it is no doubt that she must be spoiled. Sitting on a 7.5 inch Rough Country lift on 20x9 Rolling Big Power wheels wrapped in 35x15.50 rubber Nitto Mud Grapplers, she was built for offroading, though the only offroading she has ever seen was when she once got stuck in a muddy field. Being black as a freshly paved road, she shines with a coat of wax. Looking at your reflection in her is as similar as looking at yourself in a mirror. But by being black, she has to be cleaned at least once every two weeks. She is distinct in the world of trucks with fiery pink, close to a bright magenta accents. Her stock grille has been replaced with a stainless steel black mesh, with a slick, black border with silver rivets, and a pink star with an “R” cut into it. By carefully maneuvering the shifter to drive, I am taking the reins of a once wild mustang. Taking off you feel a sense of pride as everyone watches the black beast take motion. with a small push of force on the throttle you hear her shift up as if a bear has finally woken up after a long hibernation and roared its first roar. With a little more force she sets you back in your seat, then all of a sudden with a jerk, from being geared so high, she shifts into her last gear.
