“Dooown. Set. Hike!” I controlled the grimy ball from the center’s hands and took a two-step drop back into the pocket. I took a look to the right, no one open. I looked to the left, no one open. Lock up coverage, scrambling out of the pocket and dodging a linebacker I picked my head up and looked for DJ, my go to guy in these situations. As always, he somehow managed to find some room. I took one more step back, and fired a pass right on to the letters of DJ’s red jersey. He fumbled the pass and the ball dropped to the ground. That was the game. An undefeated season had not been completed.

I had led this team all season, and I wasn’t going to ruin anything now. Yes, I wanted to end the season undefeated, but it didn’t matter right now. We clinched a playoff spot. We had a chance to continue and prove our worth. I looked at DJ, a lengthy kid with long arms and legs twice the size, but most importantly the one who had dropped the game winning catch thrown by me. Something inside me grew and filled with anger, and my mind blanked. And then I burst like a mad ape. Throwing water bottles, kicking lockers, and yelling at teammates. Before I knew it, coach was cursing me out and screaming. Screaming with fury I had never seen from him before.
