Descriptive Essay
The leaves were changing from the usual green to the bright, beautiful yellow and orange, that meant it was time for the annual fun-filled family camping trip. The car ride to Lakeside is filled with my brother’s loud, obnoxious cry because the long, curvy road we take to get to the campgrounds causes his stomach to turn because it’s near a cliff. Everyone overpacks to come camping. My sister brings her entire closet because she claims, “You never know who you are going to see!” I shake my head to that remark. My infant brother will not leave the house without half of his toys, causing the sharp edge of his batman toy car to stab me like a knife in the side because there isn’t enough room for it in the back of the car. I lay on the rock for what feels like an hour just staring up at the fluffy white clouds. I hear my Mom holler my name and say, “It’s getting dark, and we are about to start the campfire!” Right when she says that I know exactly what she means. On my way back to the camper the burning of leaves and wood fill my senses. This part of the night was always my favorite. When I returned back my sisters were already starting to cook their hotdogs over the blazing fire. When I hovered my hotdog over the fire the skin of the hotdog started to blister and blacken. I soon lost myself gazing into the fire. I hear my Mom say, “Hailey, is that dog burnt enough for you?” I then went to grab the charcoaled hotdog from the hotdog fork and the instant my fingers touched the dog my fingers flew straight into my mouth. My fingers felt as though I put my hand into the actual flaming fire. After a difficult struggle I eventually put my hotdog into my bun and drenched it in ketchup to cover the charcoal
