(Page 137) The colonel and I went to sleep after Alaska left. We both did not know why she wanted to leave the school that late but we both were drunk so we went to sleep. The next morning we both did not wake up we were tired, but the Eagle woke us up at 8:00 which was weird because he had never done that before. I thought me and the Colonel were in a trouble for the problem we have been doing the last days. Before the Eagle left he told me “you are not in a trouble, do not worry just come to the gym”. Then I remember about Alaska kissing me last night and the taste of the wine and the cigarette smoke and the Chap Stick on her lips. I wondered where she at now. Everyone was the gym, the eagle called everyone to come. “I can’t see the old man anywhere” the Colonel whispered to me. However, a couple minutes later the Colonel told “here is the old man, so what is happening”. I did not answer but then I remember “where is Alaska?” I ask him. We start searching and we could not find her. ‘’ Is everyone her ‘’ the Eagle said on the microphone. I got up and told “No Alaska is not here yet” but he did not answer. So I told him and again and this time he answer he said “last night we lost one of our best students, Alaska young passed way in a car accident”. For the first time I felt that weak I could not speak. I then start laughing I did not believe it and I told him “that she is playing a prank on us she is hiding in the woods”. The Colonel did not believe it too, but the Eagle shack his head and said “I am sorry; I could not stop her leaving the school”. The Colonel and I start crying and run out the gym.’’ It was my fault‘‘the Colonel said. I start crying next to him and told “ no it was my fault you were drunk and did not know what to do, I was the one who did not stop
