It was finally summer break. I had been waiting for it since the school year started nine
months ago. My parents had told my brothers and I that we would be going on a vacation in
June, but they didn’t tell us where until the day before we left. We were going to Florida! I could
not wait. The next morning it was time to pack up and leave. We had to drive there since my
parents couldn’t afford plane tickets for a family of six at the time. I packed up all my things and
put them in the floorboard storage by my seat. I got a car tv for the ride there, and I had all of my

My parents and brothers were excited to go back home, but I was not at
all. I wanted to stay so badly, but we couldn’t just leave our life behind and start a new one. We
have too much family in Colorado to do that. I fell asleep right away because I was exhausted.
The next morning, I woke up and we were in Texas. We had to drive through Texas all day.
Around 2;30 pm we stopped at Mcdonalds to see my dad’s old friend. Then, he took us to a park.
It was cool because there were a bunch of airplanes all over the park that we got to climb. After
that, we went to stay at my old friend’s house in Houston. I hadn’t seen her in almost ten years,
but we still talked to each other like best friends. Her name is Beleny. Her mom took us out to
dinner at a restaurant called Clay’s. It was delicious. After dinner, we went back to her house.
Beleny’s uncle took us to the store so we could get food. We went to her house and fell asleep to
a movie. The next morning, my parents and I left really early so we could get home. We stopped
