While enrolling in community college at Wake Tech I was not eligible for grants making all my expenses come straight out of my own pocket. After purchasing my classes and books, obtaining a North Carolina license, and insurance I was officially out of money and needed to find a job. Back home I was employed by my family business since I was sixteen, so I never actually had to apply anywhere before. It was all new to me. After applying to several jobs, I thought I would hear back from several giving me plenty of options. That was not the case. Weeks went by and I was still unemployed with bills to pay. The thought of going home back to my old job where it was guaranteed I could make an income and be with my friends and family sat in the back of my head, but I kept pushing on with the hope the future was going to be bright for me. Weeks went by and I finally was employed by a local bakery. While being paid minimum wage, and working 40 hours a week, I was just getting by but I was grateful to finally have somewhere I can make an income and meet new people along the way. It finally began to get easier and fall into place. I eventually secured a job as a bank teller at BB&T that promised me a higher salary to get through college and all the expenses that came with it.
