The fact that I am a survivor
Is what I hope people can see,
Because I have endured everything
That cancer has thrown at me.
This poem relates to how cancer has changed the my life
Before my cancer diagnosis I was looking for a college to attend and a career. The search began with police officer and took the rounds through chef, teacher, and airline pilot. I eventually found the perfect career, National Park Service Ranger. Unfortunately, there is no degree labeled Park Ranger so my college counselor said, “Get a degree in Environmental Science, then you can become a Park Ranger.” It was set and the search was on for colleges offering a degree in Environmental Science. After looking at schools in Alaska, Colorado, Montana, and Washington I settled on Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana.

I still wanted to study Environmental Science and become a Park Ranger. Now the issue was finding a school with online classes I could take because my comprised immune system meant I could not travel far from home. Rocky Mountain College did not have any online classes at the time, so I turned closer to home and enrolled in the University of Idaho. After a year of taking online classes, I began to take live courses. Eventually the number of classes I could take began to dwindle meaning I needed to broaden my scope. Since 2013 I have taken classes through the University of Idaho, Idaho State University, College of Southern Idaho, and Eastern Idaho Technical College, transferring the credits to University of Idaho.
