Personal Narrative: I Become The Next Drum Major

My palms are sweating, my head is bowed, and I am silently praying that my name will be called. This was an important moment in my life. Would I be the next drum major for the Marching Tigers? I had spent the previous month preparing for my drum major audition. Every chance I had I practiced conducting to the Star Spangled Banner and the commands I needed to know. My audition went well until the conducting portion where I messed up the tempo and conducted in the wrong time signature. However, I still had hope that there was a chance I’d become the next drum major. I’ve been concentrating on my grades, focusing on my attitude at school and at home, and being careful not to do or say anything that would hurt my chances. My name was not called.
