It was the last day of rifle season, and I had been hunting all season long. My dad and I were out in the blind early that morning and hadn’t seen anything except a few squirrels. We got in the blind around 5 P.M. on the last day of rifle season. I had never shot a deer going into the hunt. My dad taught me a lot about hunting through the years. Most of the time, he was the one shooting but it was my turn to shoot.
We were sitting in the blind for about twenty minutes and then my eyes started getting heavy. I had fallen asleep. Suddenly, my dad shakes me and quietly he said, “Wake up deer are …show more content…
My dad replied with a yes. We waited five more minutes which felt like five hours. Finally, my dad says, “Ready to go find it?”
I replied, “Yes,” with a sigh of relief. We had been looking for blood for about 15 minutes and could not find any, that got me very worried. After about 25 minutes of looking, we came up empty. I was very nervous and I had wondered if I had wounded the doe or maybe I had even missed it. Then my dad came up on a tree and he saw the dead deer laying beside the tree. My heart slowed down now that we found the deer and I let out a sigh of relief.
The sun was just about finally set and we had loaded up the deer and took it back to camp for gutting. It was one of the most exciting series of events in my short lifetime so far. My dad helped a lot through all of the hunts he and I have been on. This allowed me to have a successful hunt and I hope that I can have more hunts like the one I had when I shot my first
