Personal Narrative: Living In North America

Living in North America I arrived in Tulsa in winter 2014 from my warm- cozy, and unforgettable country Venezuela. There we do not change seasons, so I never worried about the weather. But in Tulsa you should be careful especially when you do not have knowledge and experience about the weather, you do not know the dangerous consequences that it can have. I will never forget when I was visiting the Woodland Hill Mall one terrible winter night, and I forgot where I parked my car. Therefore, I had been walking around the Mall outside for ten minutes because It was closed. That night there was a storm winter, with low temperatures and heavy snowfall. So my hands were frozen, I was shaking so much that my teeth chattered and I could not see my car. Also, I was really afraid because I could not feel my hands or my feet. Finally, when I thought that I was lost I watchman came to help me, then I relax about my car. Because of this experience I never go out in a strong snowfall because I learned that is better to stay in the house near the fireplace, drinking hot chocolate like American people. For example, my family today has learned a new language and culture and we are making new friends, which is permitting us to have an open mind. The hardest part of this, has been the beginning because people are speaking very fast and we were processing information very slow but then now we are beginning to understand and we no longer froze mind, when someone spoke to us. My family and I are enjoying the American culture because we are speaking English better, therefore we are allowed to take pleasure in wonderful places, interesting history and different holidays with our new American
