I was still in this phase where I was really mad and wanted to go back to Houston. School started in a week and I was going to the 8th grade. I didn’t know anyone, my cousin went to a different school, and I didn’t talk much. I watched people play soccer during breakfast and lunch. School was pretty boring, but people started introducing themselves to me, and I started getting a little more conferrable. One day, I joined in playing soccer. People told me I was really good. They even invited me to join the soccer team. “Hey man you’re pretty good”, his name was Diego. “Thanks”. “Are you going to join the soccer team?”, he said. “I don’t know yet”. “You should, we’re going to need people like you, do you accept, I’ll talk to coach”. I said “Sure!”. I also joined AVID. I was in the counselor’s office when she asked me, “Do you want to join AVID?”. I had heard about it at my previous school in Houston. It had to do with college and I remember them going to college field trips. “Sure”, I said. I met many people that changed my life. Friends, teachers, and family helped me in my education and my personal life. All of this eventually led me to love Little Rock. Now, I don’t want to leave.
