Personal Narrative: My Experience At Drexel University

The individual that has molded my values was my Student Council mentor. In high school, I had been a member of the club since sophomore year. She talked to me for 3 years in high school, as a teacher, and as a mentor. She helped me mature as a person. As a freshman, I was immature. We all were! She forced me to grow up, have confidence in what I say and do, and become independent. The experience that has molded my values is when I first began to do yoga. The first few times I did it, it hurt like hell. However, as I continued to do it, started to get easier and easier. It still hurts, but I can see the results. As I was a member of this club, we ran a food drive, ran community events. So as a member of this club, I was civically engaged. Now, the mentor had implemented these things, as the previous club sponsor did not do any of these events. My experience with yoga has in no way impacted my participation in my community. My civic engagement while I am at Drexel University will be little. Bing civically engaged can mean holding a door for someone, smiling at someone, etc.… Going off of this, I will be civically engaged in that manner, as that was just how I was raised. These are just normal things that I do not think twice about. I just do them because that’s just something you do. However, I don’t believe I will be going out into the community and volunteering at the local soup kitchen, or anything along those lines.
Like I said in the previous paragraph, being civically engaged can mean holding a door for someone, smiling at someone, etc.… So, I will be civically engaged in that sense, I just won’t be continuing to go into the community and volunteer. However, I will continue not being a menace to society, and if I see someone that needs help, I’ll try to
