Personal Narrative: My Experience With Tourette Syndrome

When I was six years old I was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome (TS), a neurological disorder involving involuntary repetitive movements or sounds called tics. The best way to describe a tic is to compare it to blinking, you can try with all your might not to blink but eventually you'll have to, it's the same as trying not to tic.

Attending school was not easy for me. I constantly interrupted class and no matter how often or in depth my condition was explained, my teachers still didn't seem to understand why I couldn't just be quiet and hold still. I hated school and became very depressed in fourth grade, so much so that my doctor put me on anti depressants and my mother pulled me from school. I was homeschooled until my parents
