Personal Narrative: My First Basketball Player

The start of my junior year had just begun. After taking a year off of basketball, I had been convinced to give it another shot. We were a few games into preseason and everything was going great for the team. I was the point guard of the team but when the eighth game came, coach decided not to start me. Not long after the game started, coach called my name to go in. I was prepared to go earn my spot back. Time came and I was subbed in. Up and down the court we ran. Less than two minutes had passed since I was put in. I stole the ball and proceeded to drive though the players towards our basket. Then POP! My ACL tore and I went down. I had never been hurt before and was always able to shake things off and keep playing. I had the mindset of “If I’m not going to the emergency room, I’m still playing.” I tried to get up, but didn't get any higher than just sitting. The refs asked if I was okay.
