Personal Narrative: My Graphic Design Pathway

Introduction:

I began my Graphic Design Pathway as a Sophomore at North Atlanta High School. Beforehand I had little interest in Graphic Design and knew absolutely nothing about it. My first teacher Ms. Kendall never let us use the the computers and made us do book work instead of teaching us to design, but she was only there for the first semester. Then Ms. Guiteau came and one of the first things she asked is what we wanted to design and gave us control of what we were going to design. After this, I became super passionate about design because we were making new products every other week. In one semester I attained more knowledge and skill about Graphic Design then any other class throughout high school.

My First Year:

I remember the very first thing I learned in Photoshop. Ms. Guiteau taught me how to add a text box and then she also showed me hot to add effects to it such as drop shadow, opacity, fill, etc. Next thing I know, just a few months later I’m designing posters, hoodies, t-shirts, etc. I also remember how mesmerized I was by the new equipment purchased because I had never seen a t-shirt press or anything, but now I had access to stuff I otherwise never

At the beginning of the year we created our own brands. We created a website with a blog, we created logos, stationery, etc. This part was actually pretty fun because I have a special interest for logos and stationery. The only reason this year was not a whole lot of was because we had to prepare for the End of Pathway Assessment. This is the big test at the end of everyone’s pathway and we spent months preparing for it. However, my entire class passed and we are all industry certified in Graphic Design. After we all took the test we were rewarded with a celebration and have had several since then. I appreciate everything my Graphic Design teacher taught me and I am extremely grateful for everyone who has helped me get to where I
