Personal Narrative: My Hockey Experience

It was a cool November day and I was on my way to my first practice with my new team all full of boys and me the only girl on the whole team. I was expecting to be left behind with no one to talk to or sit by and especially no one to trust. Little did I know that I was about to make thirteen new best friends.

My Dad and I arrived at Bernick’s Arena and I felt the cool blast as I entered the cool hockey arena. As I entered locker room two on the peewee b1 white team I entered into a loud energetic locker room. As I sat down it started coming to me I don't have a single friend on this team and I'm going to be alone for five months with these boys. The next morning knowing we were playing for 5th and 6th place also knowing that Elias would be coming down for the game. Our coaches told us all to go get ready but we refused until Elias had arrived at the arena we ended up taking 6th after falling to Lakeville 3-2. Not long after that we were headed again straight from school to the Coon Rapids Winter Classic in Coon Rapids, MN. Our first game was on an outdoor rink and boy was is cold that day. We played Coon Rapids in our first game and won 4-1. The next day I woke up ate breakfast got ready and left again after my brother Ben’s mites hockey game that morning. We played Tartan who were way better than expected so we fell to them 7-1. On Sunday we had our first shot at hardware or 3rd place. But we didn't come out prepared so we fell to Eastview 8-1 and ended up in 4th. But little did we know that wasn't the best we were going to place in tournaments this year. In late February we had playoffs but because of our record we took 5th in our division which meant we couldn't go to state but even with that disappointment we still were ready to play.
