I job shadowed at Auburn University specifically in Davis Hall of Aerospace Engineering on February 12 and 13. Auburn University is located in Auburn Alabama with is right next to Opelika, Alabama. At the university, students attend class and conduct experiments in labs to eventually earn undergraduate degrees. While some students are there to earn the graduate degrees such as their masters or doctorate. I observed and shadowed Dr. Roy J. Hartfield Jr., he is a Woltosz Professor and he teaching mostly classes about space propulsion but he also teaches Aerospace Engineering II. I also talked with Rob Kulik who is a student coordinator for the aerospace engineering department. I chose to job shadow here because i figured a person with a Phd. in Aerospace, who also runs his own business, could give me the best insight on how the aerospace engineering business worked and he is a great professor. …show more content…
The University he works for is neither family nor single owner, but the current president is Steven Leath. The professors generally work alone but they do also have teaching assistants, which is usually a graduate student. Most of the professor I ran into were very nice and very helpful in finding the correct building. There are many ethnic backgrounds and different ages in the workplace as well as many different men and women working to teach these students. Most all of the professors have PhDs in Aerospace Engineering. This type of work environment was interesting to visit but i do not think a teacher is a good environment for me, because I am not very good with words and actually showing a thought process, I was more interested in the aerospace aspect
