This past Summer the gap in my heart was filled for the first time in the mountains of Cartago, Costa Rica. I was sent on a mission trip with my church to volunteer for the community, and to hold a Christian youth camp for a week. Being able to create friendships and bonds between kids from a totally different culture despite the language barrier was something you have to experience. We all became a family. Being one of the only kids in my mission group that was able to speak/translate Spanish for us made me a leader. On one of the last nights of my trip we were worshiping learning more about Jesus Christ and how he impacted this world, when all of a sudden I realized something. Everything that we were doing on this mission filled that missing piece in my heart. Hosting the camp and taking care of these kids made me feel that I had a purpose. That I was worth something. God healed that loneliness I've been living with for years. I felt I was given a second chance. I was given the motivation that every teenager needs before they venture out into their own life. I learned to start taking all the opportunities I get with a full open mind to learn.
