Brinkley came to Mrs. Brown’s room one sunny day in May of my junior year with a bright face and slightly nervous. Our color guard looked confused as for the reason she was there, some thought Mrs. Brown just needed extra hands since she was pregnant. Quickly we understood Brinkley was there to take the place as our new color guard instructor and we had to say the final goodbye to Mrs. Brown. Fast forward to band camp with my friends from band and color guard, we all were excited to be working together again to have the best season yet the excitement quickly diffuse to frustration. Brinkley failed to be there with the color guard throughout the journey therefore for her actions the vets ( people who have been in color guard for more than one year) had to take hardship for the rookies. I myself was a vet and other upper classmen had to step up to teach some of the beginners the basics of color guard to build a good foundation. From the skills I gained with Mrs.
