In South Carolina you are assigned to a workstation where you would serve for the week. My group was assigned to an 92 year old woman who lost her husband, and couldn't keep up her house on her own. When we got dropped off at her house on the first morning and she was waiting at the edge of the drive way with the biggest smile on her face. She we so excited to have people to talk with, she invited us in and showed us around her house and all her books of her grandkids. She was very into family history and had at least 15 binders of history and pictures plastered in all of them. She would talk for ages about her kids and grandkids and her old farmhouse she had down the road. You could tell how excited she was to get to talk with so many people and have them in her house. I got to see people from different schools, states, and different friend groups forget about their differences and work together to help complete strangers. I also got to see people who are used to being alone and doing everything by themselves finally get the help they’ve always needed. Everybody on the mission had a revelation that they are so fortunate to live where they live and have the things that had. After seeing the people we helped on the mission you really became grateful for your own
