This past summer I was fortunate to have the opportunity to go to the Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico. I volunteered to be the crew leader (of 8 scouts and 4 adults total) for the entirety of the trip. During this trip, an enormous amount of leadership responsibilities were set upon me in a very short period of time. I had to literally go into it running on both feet, learning as I went along. The experience literally changed me to be who I am today. I learned the difficulties of leading a team comprised of very different people, but also the benefits of being successful in it.
