My relationship with Doug Beardsley was different than most students. We were on our way down from Mt.Hood, and he was talking with some of his friends about teaching high schoolers. He talked about the difficulties, but talked more about the rewards. Mr.Beardsley talked about how one of his favorite things about teaching was to be able to see where the kids end up, and the success that they have in life. He loves to inspire kids, to push kids outside their comfort zones to achieve their goals and things that they never thought was possible. I am a prime example of Mr.Beardsley's influence. Climbing Mt.Hood definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone, but he was there every step of the way encouraging me and pushing me to keep going.
If someone was to ask me who I aspire to be like the most, with no hesitation I would say Doug Beardsley. The way he inspires people to be the best that they can be, treats everyone with respect, and goes out of his way to help others are all qualities that I hope to have when I am his age.
