Having deployed twice to Afghanistan, I have seen firsthand and supported Special Forces Units of Action conducting foreign internal defense, direct action, counter-terrorism and counter-narcotics. Serving as a logistics officer, I was the OIC responsible for sustaining a major combat operation involving over 400+ US personnel and partner forces. I have gained valuable insight into the support structures that get the SFOD-As what they need, when and where they need it. Knowing how the support system operates and understanding the different methods of delivery, both standard and non-standard, will allow me to fully integrate logistics into my ODA.
