Personal Narrative: My Trip To Myrtle Beach

When you are in my family, vacation time is a hard concept to grasp. My parents, neither having graduated college, have built a foundation upon diligence and extra shifts. Living paycheck to paycheck may not be the most preferred lifestyle, but they continue to survive by providing my sister and me with the life skills necessary to be successful in any working situation.
So when the time comes to plan our annual trip to the beach, we look for places to allow ourselves to forget the papers and check- booking accounts, the taxes and semester exams. We look for places as wild and yet as conservative as we are. While it seemed a harmless endeavor with different colored waters and its location close to the home of Nicholas Sparks (a place my mother had the intention of visiting), our trip proved more than the average families’ time at the beach. Our trip became an adventure.
As we wrapped up our tenth MadLibs on the cruise down to South Carolina and our legs were taut from hours in the green minivan, we stumbled upon more than a sign welcoming us to Myrtle Beach: we stumbled upon an entourage of black motorcyclists waving proud banners in the air that read, “Welcome to Myrtle Beach Black Biker Week 2014”.
Where I come from, motorcycles are a sign of rebellion. Anyone in my hometown with access to the contraption either stores it away in a garage or is merely a tourist passing through to get to Georgia. Now here we were, surrounded by raucous noises, wheelie displays, and blinding neon light shows on every corner. Motorcycles of all different designs, brands, and colors sped by us and weaved their way through the sandy pavement. Realization then dawned on us that this may not turn out to be the most relaxing trip my family had originally had in
