The Big Sun Scholarship
“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” This quote was stated by Tim Notke. This saying relates a lot to me. I am always working hard on everything I do just so I know that if someone beat me, at least I tried my hardest. It can even apply to life. If you work harder in the job you obtain, the most likely outcome will you will become a higher paid employee. Participating in athletics throughout my high school career has influenced my career goals by making me interested into the human body. Sports has taught me the value commitment and work value. My participation in sports have impacted my family in various ways. It has brought us closer and let us experience the bonding time we needed.

I can’t remember when the last time both my parents or any family member wasn’t at my game. We spent hours upon hours helping everybody be a better athlete by, practicing out in the yard. This has allowed us to spend time working together and working hard. My parents have been the head coach for various teams I have played for in basketball and softball. My dad often has to leave work early to arrive on time to these games and to watch his child play the game they love so much. At my games, I can hear my family cheering as if they were in the student section and they were kids again. Whenever my uncle has time, he will video tape my games, so that when I go home, I can watch and see what I can approve on to make myself and the team better. My sister will come from college on weekdays just so she can see me play. My sister and I, always push each other to be the best. Before I could drive, as annoying as it is for them, my parents would have to drive me to practice almost everyday, and I am very thankful for my family and all the support they gave me through my sports career. My family has always been there for me, by taking time out of their day, to watch a game being played.
Sports have influenced both my career goals and my family. Sports have taught me a lot about what commitment really means. “The Big Sun Organization is proud to be able to help young excellent athletes
