Personal Narrative: The Choctaw Casino Resort

What do you do on a Monday night at six in the evening? Some people will be at home watching wheel of fortune. Some will be going out to eat at a nice restaurant. But what do you do in rural southeast Oklahoma? Most people will say there is nothing to do here and there is no opportunity to have fun except to find trouble. After my explorations at the Choctaw Casino Resort, I discovered a place that I never thought would exist in Durant. I have been to the District several times and the oasis once. Although, I have never explored the main part of the Resort which is the casino area. I experienced new sights, sounds, and smells. Overall, there were amusing experiences on this excursion and some that were unpleasant.

It has an arcade, bowling alley, cinema, laser tag, and sports bar. It is a smaller area compared to the casino and for a Monday night it was to my surprise, fairly crowded. There were three fast food restaurants in this area. The casino section comes next and it is almost overlapping in the district area because there are some machines placed right behind the bowling alley. I have never been to this part of the building and as we were walking through, it was almost as if a wall of cigarette smoke instantly struck me in the face. We walked all the way through the slot machine area and it I was starting to think I was in an endless abyss of bright lights, buzzing sounds, and lack of oxygen. When we reached the end, the group I was with found another theater, conference rooms, and a public balcony. Being able to go outside was a treat. There was no one else on the balcony and we could look out from the front of the building. When we went back inside, we
