Everyone's first day at work can be a little confusing, some more than others. It all depends on ones ability to listen and perceive information, also the want to do so. Inexperience, being properly trained, and failing can all ultimately help overcome any obstacle. The average person fails many times throughout life, and failure can serve as a great lesson if allowed.
It was my first day at work, and as I arrived my new manager started introducing me to my fellow lineman. After meeting my new co-workers I soon began to feel comfortable in my new environment. My fellow co-workers started telling crazy, fun, and scary stories of the job. Listening to everyone’s interesting stories had me extremely excited to begin my training. Soon after meeting the guys and sharing many stories of aviation I was called into my manager's office. He started to tell me about all of the procedures that I would be walked through, and shown how to do. After about thirty minutes of explanations he asked if I was ready. After a few minutes of walking around the airport with him he took me to the JetA truck. He began to thoroughly go over the truck, and fueling procedures. The fueling procedure that he was telling me about was on a specific plane. It was N587BG he was telling me exactly how to do the fueling, and the importance of doing so correctly. As he was telling me how to fuel the plane a helicopter had arrived, and I was completely distracted by the helicopters landing. So of course I had barely listened to what he was saying, and I was positive that he was aware of this.
