During my sophomore year of high school, I began to feel as if I was not being challenged in my daily school life. I felt as if the complacency of the typical high school route and environment was wearing negatively on me. It was at this time that I began to seek an alternative route. This search led me to the Great Lakes Bay Early College (GLBEC) program. This program would allow me to complete my high school requirements while earning college credits. Despite the fact that I was a cheerleader and it meant leaving behind people I had been friends with for years, I knew GLBEC was an opportunity I could not pass up. It was at the beginning of my junior year of high school that I left my comfort zone and began the GLBEC program.
