It was a bright sunny day In August and I was packing for a hiking trip that would be remembered for ever more. I was so excited I could barely stand still. Ten days in Baxter State Park’s wilderness with 9 people and 2 trip leaders and no cell phone service sounded like a blast to me. I didn't know it yet but this trip would teach me a lot of interesting and useful skills to use in the future while doing any kind of hiking, hunting, fishing, etc. This trip I was on was sponsered by the Friends Of Baxter. Our group name was called The Maine Youth Leadership Program. It was possible for me to participate in this adventurous learning experience because I applied to go on this trip through the Friends Of Baxter. I found out about this trip through a poster at a restaurant that caught my attention. There was 10 participants chosen out of 300 and I was one of them. Anyone from the state of Maine that was a junior or senior in high school could apply for this 10 day hiking trip in Baxter State Park. We were all dreading leaving. Even though we were all dreading leaving I was very excited to get home and have a nice meal and hot shower. As we rode back to the Baxter State park Headquarters we all talked saying our goodbyes to each other and giving each other our phone numbers. As we drove into town I was getting excited to see my parents and go home. As soon as we got to the Baxter State Park Headquarters we all hugged our parents and told them all about our awesome trips. We all introduced each other to our parents. After we were all done talking and introducing people we received a shirt, a book, and a wooden foot that we had everyone
