Personal Narrative: The Person I Am Today

One moment in my life that has molded me into the individual that I am today would probably have to be the time that I broke my pinkie finger on my right hand. Now one may ask, “How would breaking a finger help shape you into the person you are today?” Well, I can’t blame them for asking that question because I would ask the same question myself, but I can definitely give you some insight as to why this specific event has made me the person I am today. Now, before we get into this story I want to give a little information about me and how I am as an individual. I was blocking all of their shots, until our defense became very cluttered and could not clear the ball away from the goal. Wise scores again. I became furious with myself even though the goal was not my fault at all, but I still expected to stop the goal no matter what. I became so angry that I needed to hit something, so I punched the steel post of the soccer goal beside of me, and I was immediately filled with regret. My hand was not opening and closing properly so I took the glove off of my hand and just by looking at my hand I knew I had done something severe. I was then rushed to the hospital where I found out that I had a boxer’s fracture in my hand and not only was the bone broken but it was also dislocated. I was not treated at that hospital because it is not the best around. Luckily, my aunt, who is a nurse at the hospital in Whitesburg, KY, was able to call in a favor and have the bone set back into place and I was put in a cast for a couple of weeks. I soon went back to get the cast removed, but things still did not seem right, so I was scheduled an appointment at the Bristol hospital to see a hand specialist about my hand. We found out when I got there that I had actually destroyed the joint for my pinkie finger and needed to have surgery on it. I then had joint reconstruction on my hand where one metal plate and six screws were placed in my hand and have not been removed to this
