“A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work.” This quote by Colin Powell best describes my personal identity as an athlete, scholar, and an overall person. I can relate to this poem as an athlete because I know that I have to work for a position on the court or field, because I know it isn’t going to fall into my hands. Persistent is the quality of continuing firmly or obstinately in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition. No matter what is thrown at me whether it is an easy task or a hard task I will never give up until it is finished. An example of me being persistent is when I was challenged to not talk nonsense in any of my classes. I knew this was going to be a challenge for me because I loved to talk to all of my fellow classmates. I took on this challenge because it was hurting my grades in some of my classes. At the end of the week, my grades were rising because I took on a big challenge and succeeded. I knew it would be hard, but I had to do it because it was hurting my grades. In the end it all paid off because I have learned to better myself through this characteristic. This quality makes me a better person in every way.
To conclude, all of these qualities make me who I am. I have these qualities because they help me succeed in the classroom, on the court, on the field, and on the farm. I would not trade any of my qualities for other qualities. Nobody has the exact same characteristics because they are what make us, us.
