Many people nowadays can’t be without their phone. Some use it when they are eating, in class, at work, in the restroom, and sadly as they are driving. However, many of them don’t take in consideration that if they are driving and texting at the same time they can cause their own death. There are approximately 330,000 injuries that are caused by people who without realizing it they are putting their life at risk the moment they pick up their phone. According to Nina Combs, a copy editor and proofreader, “In 2008, almost 6,000 people were killed and half a million were injured in crashes related to driver distraction” (Combs). Clearly many people aren’t aware of how dangerous it can be when texting and driving at the same time. They aren’t only putting their life at risk because some drivers sometimes have passengers which can include children.
