Napoleon is a harsh leader, and the lives of the animals are challenging because of him. Napoleon makes the animals build a large windmill. To make this the animals have to work very long, hard hours. But, Napoleon and the other pigs never do any physical work themselves. In the very beginning of Animal Farm the animals wrote The Seven Commandments. The Seven Commandments are rules in place so that the animals never end up like humans. But Napoleon, and the other pigs, all break these rules, then change the rules to fit their wants. For example, the pigs live in Mr. Jones’s home, walk on two legs, wear clothes, sleep in beds, drink alcohol, and kill other animals. All are against the Commandments. And in the end the pigs change the final and most important commandment from “all animals are equal” to “all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others”. Napoleon is not what the animals wanted in the early days of Animal Farm.
Napoleon is not all bad though. If you look at him in the pig’s perspective, life has never been better. He gives them unbelievable power and lets them make harsh rules that don’t apply to them. For example, all the other animals have smaller food rations so that the pigs can eat more.
