In the United States, thousands of young boys’ genitals get mutilated against their will for no logical reason. The operation is performed far before the child know what’s happening to them, let alone can talk or provide consent. In the end, the decision lies with the person who will be most affected by it, and they should be of age to make a good decision.
To elaborate further Circumcision is the removal of the healthy foreskin. This procedure is usually performed in the first two to three weeks after the baby is born due to religious or personal beliefs. The foreskin is a protective covering of the tip of the individual’s genitals. Firstly, Intact America explains that the foreskin, “protects it from urine, feces, and irritation, and keeps contaminants from entering the urinary tract”. Circumcision is not only practiced among the male population; female circumcision occurs around the world, most commonly in the Middle East, Asia, and multiple regions of Africa. Though the United States considers female circumcision “genital mutilation” and it is deemed a punishable crime, male circumcision is perfectly legal and commonly practiced within the Union. There is an explanation for this, as CircumcisionDecision.com says, “ The foreskin is one of the most sensitive body parts, with 20,000 nerve endings.” This is saying that 20,000 nerve endings lay in the foreskin, thus increasing levels of pleasure experienced. Having it removed with no anesthesia causes unimaginable pain and side effects. The United States Surgical Review, states that, “ 69.04% of Circumcision victims, regret being exposed to the procedure”.
