Students are divided on whether they like this year’s schedule or last year’s schedule
Most students agree that Gator Time is not enough. They feel that 15 minutes a week is not sufficient to get help from a teacher, especially if other students also need help. They also feel that some teachers are not properly using gator time. There is a reoccurring issue where teachers are not available for gator time, and the students cannot meet with them.
One student found that he often has to go hungry on a few days of the week due to his schedule not allowing sufficient time to get lunch.
Some students state that the current schedule does not allow time for practice with instruments (steel drums, …show more content…
A student stated that having to get a tardy pass for class makes the student miss more class than they would have originally. The student recommended that teachers have an option to mark a student tardy in Powerschool.
Homework
Students on average are spending between 1 and 3 hours a night on homework
ILT is allowing students to participate in extracurriculars. However, they noted that they had more ILT on last year’s schedule.
A student stated that teachers assign homework like a “feast or a famine”; meaning that teachers either assign a hefty workload, or none at all.
Students that participate in a center stated that they do not have any time to do homework at school
The group said as a whole that they were being bogged down with case study work in addition to normal academic homework
There was consensus that some classes are not providing enough homework. The students reported that they really would like the extra practice, but some teachers were not assigning homework. Physics was a common subject that the students stated that they wished they had more homework
