Description/Taxonomy- Green Sea Turtles aren’t green on the outside or on their shell, but they are green on their fat. Green Sea Turtles average up to 3 to 4 feet, but a Green Sea Turtle was found that was 5 feet. Adult Green Sea Turtles usually weigh from 240 pounds to 420 pounds. The Green Sea Turtles have a serrated beak to help tear through aquatic vegetation. The Green Sea Turtle is found in all sub tropics and tropics worldwide. Major nesting sites are on the beaches of Tortuguero which is in Costa Rica, Oman, Florida, Raine island which is by Australia, Northwestern Hawaiian islands, Guam, American Samoa, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and the Virgin Islands. The Green Sea Turtles have an estimated population of 80,000 females. The reason there are so many females is the Green Sea Turtles gender is defined by temperature. The hotter it is the more female to male ratio there is and vice versa. Male turtles also spend their entire lives in the ocean so no websites know the current male population of the Green Sea
