Before the Greyhounds race once or at all they get put through cruel treatment. To even be registered they have to get tattooed their number on their side. They also have to race no matter the weather if it's pouring rain or freezing cold even if they may get injured more easily. When they chase after the dummy hare they may think it's a real hare and that it's their biggest lunch in a while so they race competitively and get injured in the process.
Even after the race the dogs get treated poorly if they break a bone during the race and they go back to their owner they usually get put down because it's sometimes cheaper to buy a new dog than to take care of an older one. When the owner gets a new Greyhound it gets treated just as poorly as the last one and the cycle never ends. From one year alone there were 909 Greyhound racing deaths because the dogs were simply not taken care of.
Even though Greyhound racing might seem fun to watch and bet on, the Greyhounds are treated poorly and I strongly believe the Greyhounds should be treated better or the entire sport should be shut down. The Greyhounds are put through cruel treatment, put in terrible conditions, and are forced to race. So you should do your part and stand up for these poorly treated dogs by supporting a charity or signing a petition
