There are about 6,178 Greek organizations on 800 college campuses across the United States with over 9 million members, it's obvious Greek organizations play a big role on college campuses, in the past five years more than 100 colleges have let fraternities and sororities for the first times, while all others have been established. Although Greek organizations do have their cons that we all know about, they also have their pros, such as leadership opportunities, housing options, connections and more which we don’t ever hear about because of the hazing overshadows all of the good thing that go on. Time goes on and you continue to think about if being in an organization is what you do. You decide that yes you want to join but then all of a sudden you hear the news of someone being beaten to death due to hazing in college that makes you reconsider. You think about if that is still something you want to do, because you don’t want to be apart of the statistics that come with joining a fraternity or sorority. You start to understand the risk more as you get closer and closer to being a freshman in college, although once you get to college you still can't join until you have met the requirements which vary a little but are usually very consistent from one organization to another. You must first go to a Greek event to sign up and go through their protocol to get in but during the meeting one of the first things they tell you after telling the group about the history of their organization is about their "No Haze Policy", which informs you that they don’t tolerate hazing. Is this true? It actually is very true but, every incident won't be caught and most will go without anything happening because those being hazed are informed that that is part of what they must go through to get in that
