The opinions on the breed Pitbull have varied differently over the years. Many people think that this type of breed is very dangerous or too violent. Others think that there is no dog that can compare with the mighty Pit. Cities have passed laws that you can’t own a pit-bull within the city limits. The reputation of the pit has been harmed due to a lot of things. When you hear the word Pitbull most people come up of an image of a muscular aggressive dog. In reality the breed is not what people think it is. The only reason people come up with that image is because the breed has been used for dog fighting and people think that that is the only reason to have that kind of dog. Any dog can be aggressive or mean. The pit-bull has been judged and titled as an aggressive animal and it’s not true. People raised a couple of dogs the wrong way and that has given the whole breed a bad look. A dog should be judged individually and not blamed entirely for the actions and mistakes of bad owners. Myths about this breed have also harmed the breed’s name. One of the most famous myths about the pit-bull is that they have locking jaws. NO dog has locking jaws there is no way for the dog’s structural make-up of the skull that could allow and type of dog to have locking jaws. It is just physically impossible. Many people think that the Pitbull also has the strongest bite force of all the larger breeds. Dr. Brady Barr of National Geographic made an experiment and tested the dog breeds Rottweiler, Pitbull, and German Shephard. Dog bite pressure is measured in pounds per square inch (psi). The Pitbull’s bite pressure was 235lbs psi, the German Shepard’s was 238 lbs. psi, and the Rottweiler’s was 328lbs
