School Uniforms
Kristen Stewart was bullied while in school for the way she dressed ,but she didn’t want to be fashionable, she just wanted the bullying to stop. Should children be worrying about what they wear to school or if they’ll be made fun of for it? If schools choose to use school uniforms they could enhance the safety of the children, be better financially for families and create a better learning environment for the children. School uniforms should be a necessity in all schools so the children can experience better years in school not worrying about being judged by their clothes.
Schools with uniforms have shown to have cut down in violence and bullying. “Uniforms could cut down in violence. Earlier this school year, a large fight broke out after a student was teased for supposedly wearing knock off jeans.”(Esack). If schools had uniforms students wouldn’t be able to sneak weapons in under their loose baggy clothes. “Students should be forbidden from wearing coats in class. “Kids and teens use they way they dress to express themselves and to identify with certain social groups.” (Kouzmine) But if kids are judging people and being friends with someone based on the way they dress is that fair? No, it is not fair it’s like judging a book by its cover. Everyone always says don’t judge a book by its cover. Also, kids can still accessorise with jewelry, watches, makeup, and other accessories they just have to be more creative with it. On the weekends and after school they can change into whatever they would like; it’s almost like a job you have a uniform to wear and once you’re done you can wear whatever you would like. Overall you may be changing their style of dressing, but you are not taking away the freedom to express
