The transgender bathroom bill is a law made up by the government to prevent transgender people from using their preferred bathroom, even though they have been doing it since gender separated bathrooms came into existence. The main reason most states are passing the bill is because the idea was brought up that men would pretend to be transgender to rape women. The transgender bathroom bill also seems to be slowly splitting America right down the middle, with some states passing it and others deciding not to. If we continue to separate things by gender, and continue to oppress the people that are different from us, the United States alone will never achieve peace. This bill should have never been brought up: it’s not that big of a deal who is using what bathroom. The media is portraying the main issue with having gender-neutral, all-inclusive restrooms as men somehow being able to say they are transgender, and having the ability to enter the women’s restroom. It is said that this could result in an increase of forced sexual contact (rape) with women. So far, there are thirteen states that have failed in passing the bill and one that vetoed the bill, meaning transgender people in those states are free to use whatever bathroom they prefer.
