The most important and overriding factor in carp angling is that of fish care.

These magnificent creatures that we have such esteem for deserve our utmost respect, and every care should be taken while they are in our custody.

Every second that they spend in our care away from their watery domain is perhaps vital to their very existence, so whatever else occurs this criteria should be foremost in our minds.

The moment that a fish slides over our net it is totally dependant on us, and its welfare is now in our hands and the way in which we handle the situation,... if we mess up, the fish suffers!

Once the fish is netted you should proceed to slacken the line off of the reel, this is to avoid any unnecessary tension being put on the hook …show more content…
You will know when the time is right to allow the fish to swim away again, it will kick strongly and will suddenly be almost impossible to hold any longer!
