For example, the people in the food department have to measure the exact amount of food so the animals don’t get to overweight or skinny. For example, the sea lion eats about 4.4 lbs. of squid, 7 lbs. of smelt, and 1 lb. of salmon. Tigers on the other hand only need 3 lbs. of meat, and compared to the fox which only needs 146 grams of food they have a completely different appetite. Some animals, even get treats when they do tricks. Most importantly zoos have reproduction programs for animals that are endangered or just won’t breed in the wild. For example, the Orix went extinct in the wild and only survived in zoos, private collections, and is now part of a breeding program so some can go back into the wild. In North America, there are only about 200 animals that live there, but on 12% reproduce. Zoos also breed some of the most endangered species of the world. Such as the black footed ferret, they breed the black footed ferrets every year and release them back into the wild to lead them out of extinction. In conclusion, I know that animals will be able to live a healthy, emotional, and physical life in a zoo, because they get the protection they need, medical/food needs, and there being put in reproduction programs so more and more people can see all the animal species that are going into extinction in the wild. Without zoos nobody would be able to see all these animals because they would be
