A. Attention Getter: How would you feel if your cardiologist told you that you had less than six months to live unless a compatible heart became available soon? This is what thousands of people hear every day, then they are put on a transplant list where they have to wait for months or even years for a match available, or even if there is one available. Could you imagine if you were given a death sentence like this? It is hard to know that many people are capable of saving lives but nobody is stepping up. Organ donation is a selfless way to give back to others, and to be able to make a huge difference by giving another person a second chance at life.

Reason to listen: Many of these people waiting could have a happy ending to their story but the reality is many don’t and many won’t. The number of patients waiting for organs far exceeds the number of people who have registered to become organ donors.
D. Thesis: Becoming an organ donor after death is not only an important decision for yourself, but it is also an important decision for the life that you may have the power to save.
E. Preview: I will first explain to you how serious this problem is and the ways that you can help. Finally, I will illustrate the ways in which you and your family can possibly benefit from donation in the future.
