The objective of the study is to determine if there is an effect on weight loss when consuming a plant-based diet.

2. Describe the Methods used (how was the study designed). (20 points)

The method in which the trial was conducted was having the participants enroll in a 6 trial, the study was designed so the participants would attend weekly group meetings, along with weekly email instructions. The study was designed to be a 2 month weight loss intervention followed by a 4 month result. The participants had to be in short considered over weight or obese, in safe health between the ages of 18 and 65, and be interested in loosing weight. What is the conclusion of the study? (20 points)

The conclusion of the study was that there was greater short-term weight loss in the participants randomly assigned to the plant based diet compared to the other plant based diets that included meat , the pesco- vegetarian and semi vegetarian. They there macronutrient, cholesterol and fiber intake improved. The vegan and vegetarian diets can be looked at as efficient diets to aid in weight loss.

This study was done by Gabrielle M.Turner- McGrievy Ph.D., R.D., Charis R. Davidson M.P.H., Ellen Richard M.P.H., R.D., Sara Wilcox Ph.D., and Edward A. Frongillo Ph.D.

This trial was done to observe the reaction to weight loss while consuming a plant based diet.

6. Was the study valid and relevant? Why or why not? (10 points)

I think the study was valid there was a large sample group of particiapants , and there were several different variable that could give a varied outcome. I think the study was relevant because it tested exactly what the objective was and the conclusion showed that.
